<p>In Switzerland/Liechtenstein, France, Iceland, Luxembourg, Latvia, Monaco, the Netherlands, Sweden, Slovenia and United Kingdom, the new translation rules according to the London Agreement now also apply to European patents granted before 1 May 2008, but amended on or after 1 May in connection with oppositions, appeals or limitations of patents. Germany and Denmark are outside this change so that in these two countries the old translation requirements continue to apply to patents issued before 1 May. To put the record straight, it must be emphasised that Germany and Denmark take part in the London Agreement, and that its translation rules apply in the two countries for patents issued after 1 May 2008. </p><p> </p>
As of 1 July 2009, San Marino has entered as a member of the European patent cooperation, the EPO. The EPO then counts 36 member states.
